Alicante Gender Equality Forum – Trustworthy AIThis masterclass examined algorithmic discrimination and trustworthy AI in the context of local public administration with a gender perspective. The talk addressed how AI systems can reproduce or amplify structural inequalities, the technical and sociotechnical sources of bias, and the importance of responsible design, evaluation, transparency, and governance. Special attention was given to fairness-aware machine learning, public-sector accountability, and the need to ensure that AI tools do not perpetuate gender-based inequalities.

The session explored how AI systems can reproduce or amplify discrimination, especially when they are deployed in institutional and high-impact decision-making contexts. It combined technical foundations of algorithmic fairness with a broader discussion of trustworthy AI, public-sector accountability, and the social implications of automated decision-making.
